My Sewing World Update

Hi everyone, I hope you all are staying safe and sane during this Covid season. What week is it anyway? Things are slowly opening up here in MN but it’s scary! Is it safe?

Many of you have been asking me whether my summer shop is open. And for those of you that are new, I have a summer shop open weekends at our local flea market. The flea market has opened but I have not. I’m giving it a couple more weeks and hope to open at the end of June.

Meanwhile, I have been filling Etsy orders and busy making new items for my shop. My plans for this blog is to share what projects I have completed and more insight into my craft business world. Don’t miss out on any updates-subscribe to my blog!

We had a lot of rain this week, so I got a lot done in my sewing room. I work in batches, and I got three batches of different items complete and listed in my Etsy shop.

First of all, I made patchwork belts from random scraps and trim. These are so much fun! Each measures approximately 2” across and 50” long. They close with a 2” D-rings. I love this prairie look. It looks great with a shirt waist style dress, (I have a denim one) or with a pair of jeans and plain tee. I did film this project and hope to get it on YouTube soon.

Adding words with stamps gives the belts personality! Most of these are now listed in my Etsy shop here.

A wonderful YouTube subscriber sent “happy mail” and in it was little mini notebooks. I made several notebook covers using cotton canvas for the base. I free-motion stitched little stick figures onto the covers. Each has a ribbon bookmark made from hand dyed twill tape - also included in the “happy mail”. Thank you so much! Here is a picture of these little cuties.

Each stick figure has a word phrase stitched under her. The lining of the notebook is the same fabric as the girl’s dress. I have these listed in my Etsy store.

The last project I worked on were sunglass cases. These are a great seller in my Etsy shop and also at my flea market shop. I love using the fusible foam. It is so easy to work with and gives your sunglasses such a cushy home! Many are now listed in my shop here:
