Using Pilot Frixion Pens on Fabric, A Free-Motion Sewing Project
A wonderful YouTube viewer commented whether I had ever used the Pilot Frixion Pens on fabric. She mentioned that they are easily erased by ironing. I was intrigued! So of course I headed to Amazon and made a purchase.I am always looking for ways to put designs on fabric, but it’s tricky to find the a pen that writes smoothly and doesn’t leave a permanent mark. These Fixion Pens by Pilot are so cool!
I wanted to try the Fixion Pens to create an easy design on a zippered pouch. I drew this simple arrow design on graph paper and traced the design onto a white denim fabric using the Fixion Pens. It was easy to trace my design with the Darice Light Box.
One of my goals this year to to practice free- motion words. All I can say is…slow and steady! It is getting easier. I love how easy it is to see these Frixion Pen marks on the fabric.
All the Frixion Pen marks magically disappear when ironed and you are left with your free-motion stitching. So cool! I love adding color to my design with Derwent Inktense Pencils. A fabric medium is used to activate the ink. My favorite is GAC900 by Golden.
The inside is pretty too. I love this fabric with soft, pastel colors. Come on spring! A free-motion heart was added to the back. Again the color was added using the Derwent Inktense Pencils.
You may enjoy watching the video here or on my YouTube channel. I go over the simple steps in putting in the zipper and finishing the pouch. What a great place to store art supplies:)
