Easy Journal, Notebook Covers, using Limited Supplies

Crafting with limited supplies really stretches one’s creativity. It’s a good thing! Many of you that follow me know that we escaped the cold MN weather this winter and are vacationing in AZ for a couple of months. I brought a few of my “staple” sewing supplies with me but didn’t have room in the car for a lot of my stuff.

This week, I completed a few journal or notebook covers with limited supplies. I used a heavy cotton canvas for my covers.

The sailboat design was inspired by the Adventure stamp set by Hero Arts.

Using my 3”x 5” Gelli Plate and my Inktense Blocks, I added a simple background to my canvas.

I used this quick background for both my design. My dragonfly pattern is available here if anyone wants to use it in their creations. It is a PDF download and is available in two sizes. Enjoy!

I’ve attached the appliqués using free motion stitching. The stitching adds detail. The word “faith” was also added using free-motion stitching. So many possibilities!
