Free-Motion Appliqué Bird Pillow

Today I have a free-motion sewing project for you. Over the years, I have done many bird designs. I love birds!

I used a natural colored muslin for the background fabric. I stamped the fabric before adding my design. I love using stamps on fabric! They add texture and interest.

The bird and the nest are very scrappy. My favorite kind of sewing! Many interesting pieces were added to the nest; fabric music, fibers and yarn and phrases. A tulle netting holds it all in place.

The words “Welcome to My Nest” were stitched using free-motion. The entire design was stitched with black thread.
